Airship thumbs!

These are all pretty much ships that the Overworlders would fly, the Earthers have much more ironclad looking designs (I'll be posting some up within a few days for you guys to see).

I've been having some trouble with fitting in a method for lift. Though the ships "fly", the do so at a relatively constant altitude and the buoyancy of the crystals resists change to that. Hence why most of the ships have "wings" as it were. I figure that with enough momentum they can angle the wings to act like flaps and rudders on a plane.

A friend suggested, however, that I use sails that can deviate from the "normal" sailing position, which is the design at the bottom. It's mainsails are on a kind of ring that can rotate round in order to roll (when not fully rotated) or pitch (when fully rotated). Obviously the booms still function at all angles to give a greater degree of control. I think I'm currently tied between that design and the one with the two huge wings, which would link together for forward momentum and split apart for maneuverability. Both are quite cool ideas, I think, but they definitely need some work.

It's not even funny how enjoyable it is to sit and come up with these though
